CES Partner Spotlight: Jim Dorey of MarketSaw

Leading up to CES, we’re turning the spotlight on our partners to get their perspective on what’s happening in digital 3D. Today, we’re pleased to chat with Jim Dorey of MarketSaw.

Tell us a bit about the history of MarketSaw. What are you setting out to accomplish?

I started MarketSaw.com back in 2006 when I heard about Jim Cameron doing AVATAR in 3D. I thought that if he was going to push the format, then it will doing extremely well. We have had outstanding growth and have become the recognized leader in 3D entertainment news. Being the number one stop for anything to do with AVATAR while it was in production and in theaters of course helped! We’re looking forward to more of that coverage with AVATAR 2 & 3. I’ve met and interviewed Mr. Cameron many times and he consistently amazes me with his vision and creativity, not to mention his technical prowess.

MarketSaw will continue to grow with 3D as it expands into just about every facet of our entertainment and scientific world. I’m excited by the possibilities! Continue reading

CES Partner Spotlight: National Geographic brings digital 3D to life

Leading up to CES, we’re turning the spotlight on our partners to get their perspective on what’s happening in digital 3D. Today, we’re pleased to chat with Lisa Truitt, President at National Geographic Cinema Ventures.

What makes National Geographic a great company?

To me, National Geographic is a company like no other. At our core, we are a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire people to care about the planet. We send the world’s best explorers and scientists, including the most promising up-and-comers, to all corners of the globe, and we then share their discoveries and passions with the world through the power of great storytelling. Our profits go right back to fund more exploration, research, conservation and science work, and that makes it a very inspiring place to work.

National Geographic is also such a well-respected and loved brand, with a targeted, loyal audience, and a global reach of more than 400 million people around the world each month. We have vast media and outreach assets, including TV, digital, social media, print, gaming, mobile, publishing, licensing, education products, travel excursions, live events, and more. Over time, National Geographic continues to reinvent itself on new platforms, and has been at the forefront of embracing new technology to continue to engage consumers with our powerful storytelling. I feel so lucky to be a part of this organization, to spend my life creating entertainment that matters.  Continue reading

Memories from ShowEast 2011

Hollywood, Florida? Absolutely! I was here from Hollywood west coast to attend the 2011 ShowEast Trade Show. What’s that? You missed your flight? Don’t worry, just read on… oh, if you were there, you should read on too…

MasterImage 3D was in Hollywood, Florida at ShowEast. With digital conversion, new builds, and tight budgets all weighing heavily on the minds of Exhibitors, the MasterImage solutions for 3D equipment and financing received a very warm welcome. I met with many Integrators and Exhibitors that were excited to see the new MasterImage 3D system and the variety of installation choices now available. They were equally happy to discover the new pricing and financing options available. Continue reading
